19th Century
- In 1870, Arapahoe County was established, and the county seat was located in Littleton.

21st Century
- In 2000, the Arapahoe County Jail was renamed the Arapahoe County Detention Facility.
- In 2005, the Arapahoe County Detention Facility was expanded to include a new medical wing.
- In 2010, the Arapahoe County Detention Facility was again expanded to include a new wing with 256 additional beds.
- In 2015, the Arapahoe County Detention Facility was accredited by the American Correctional Association.
Today
- The Arapahoe County Detention Facility is a modern, state-of-the-art facility that houses approximately 1,500 inmates.
- The jail provides a variety of programs and services to inmates, including educational programs, vocational training programs, and substance abuse treatment programs.
- The jail is also staffed by a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing safe and secure conditions for inmates.
Notable Events
- In 1974, a group of inmates escaped from the Arapahoe County Jail by digging a tunnel under the jail wall.
